BlackBerry Bags Order For One Million New Handsets

BlackBerry, the Canadian Smartphone manufacturer, said it got order for one million if its new handsets, BB Z10, and BB Q10, marking the largest ever single purchase in the company's history, reports TOI.

BlackBerry once the top Smartphone manufacturer had lost its market share to Apple’s iPhone boom. With the launch of its two handsets Z10 and Q10, the company is attempting a dream comeback.

BlackBerry Z10 had already got launched across the world and will soon be launched in U.S. Its sibling Q10 is all set to hit market this month or early April. The deal couldn’t have come at any better time for BlackBerry.

The company did not disclose who placed the order, but said that it came from one of its established partners. Shipments will begin immediately.

BlackBerry issued the statement just ahead of its quarterly earnings report on March 28.

The company's shares jumped 77 cents on the news, or more than 5 per cent, to $15.24 in late trading. The company's stock has more than doubled since autumn on the anticipation surrounding its new devices.
