Microsoft Launches New Surface Tablet to Challenge Apple’s iPad Posted: 25 Sep 2013 09:20 AM PDT Microsoft has launched its next version Surface Tablets; Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2. While Surface 2 starts at $449, Surface Pro 2 starts at $899. These tablets have the same screen size as their former version, measuring 10.6-inches diagonally. Both offer 200GB of free online storage through SkyDrive for two years along with a yearlong free calls and Wi-Fi hot-spots through Skype. The sale begins on October 22. Microsoft's previous venture in the Tablet market failed to make any dents because of the tough competition posed by its nemesis Apple which sold 34 million iPads last year while Microsoft Surface sales racked up only $853 million in sales while generating a $900 million charge for unsold inventory. Keyboard covers The one thing that Microsoft's tablet still doesn't support is 3G and 4G connectivity which is looked upon as a major drawback as these devices are aimed at enterprise users.
