Ratan Tata, the only Indian Reputable Business Leader

Business leaders often receive innumerable credits and honors. All such awards make them more special and such incredible credits reflect their achievements in the business arena. Credits are not given only on the basis of their wealth, sometimes their philanthropic works brought greater honors and awards to them.


The New-York based Reputation Institute named him among the top ten most reputed people on earth. Reputation Institute created a list of 54 of the world's most visible leaders and public personalities in politics, business, culture, and sports.

Their reputation was measured on a 0-100 point scale based on four attributes - the degree to which a person is liked, respected, admired, and trusted. There were 19 people in the list, here is the list of prominent business leaders.

1. Ratan Tata

Ratan Naval Tata, chairman of the Tata Group of companies recently added another feather to his crown. Ratan Tata is responsible for the acquisition of Tetley, Jaguar Land Rover and Corus, which have turned Tata from a largely India-centric company into a global business, with 65% revenues coming from abroad.
Ratan Tata is the only Indian reputable business leaders. Ratan Tata's net worth is $970 million. He does not figure in any 'rich list' because a large number of the shares (around 65.8%) of Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group, are held by charitable trust.

2. Bill Gates

Bill Gates is the former CEO and current chairman of Microsoft. He is a business magnate, investor, philanthropist, and author. During his career at Microsoft, Gates held the positions of CEO and chief software architect, and remains the largest individual shareholder, with more than 8 per cent of the common stock.


As of 2007, Bill and wife Melinda Gates were the second-most generous philanthropists in America, having given over $28 billion to charity.
