Most Awaited Book-to-Movie Adaptations

Books have been a key stone of human communication, pipeline of education, and books today serve as an important source for splendid movies. Books read today are movies of tomorrow.

The union of books and movies was never that stronger, before movies like "Harry Potter", "Twilight" and "The Lords of the Rings" hit the theatres. Keeping this in mind, we decided to give you a sneak peek through all the much awaited book-to-movie adaptations. These coolest books will soon get a life as they turn into major motion pictures.


The Hobbit

Prequel to "The Lords of the Rings" trilogy and an adaptation of the 1937 novel by J. R. R. Tolkien, "The Hobbit" is much awaited by all Hollywood pundits as they all have thousand speculations in their minds regarding how director Peter Jackson will pull it off. Jackson returns as a director again with this epic fantasy film and he also serves as producer and co-writer. Martin Freeman will star as Bilbo Baggins and Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield. Several actors from The Lord of the Rings film trilogy will reprise their roles, including Ian McKellen, Andy Serkis, Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett, Christopher Lee, Ian Holm, Elijah Wood, and Orlando Bloom. Fans have to wait a while asthe movie is being divided into two parts, begun production has just begun in New Zealand and will be hitting theaters almost after two years. The movie will probably be released on 19th December 2012 worldwide.

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn

Tintin took almost 30 years to hit the big screen. The 3D film is based on series of comic books created by Belgian artist Herg' (Georges Remi), its directed by Steven Spielberg, produced by Peter Jackson, and written by Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish. The script is based on three of the stories, The Crab with the Golden Claws, The Secret of the Unicorn, and Red Rackham's Treasure. Daniel Craig, Cary Elwes, Simon Pegg, Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis will star in the movie. The first press screening for the movie was on 10th October, 2011 and the film is set to be released in North American theaters on December 21, 2011 in Digital 3D and IMAX. The world premiere took place on 22nd October, 2011 in Brussels. Indians can enjoy Tintin's adventure from 11th November this year.

Breaking Dawn

Stephenie Meyer's penned Twilight Saga's fourth and final part Breaking Down will soon be screened. The much awaited movie needs no information as we already know too much of it. The real life turned couple Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will be seen romancing each other as they will tie nuptial knots in the movie. The will also star Taylor Lautner. The action in the movie is so big that it has been broken into two parts. The first part can be enjoyed next month itself on 18th November. But you have to hold on your excitement for second part till next year around 16th November.


Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

The terrorist attack of 11th September 2001 has completed a decade, but the 9/11 attack will soon be seen in major Hollywood movie "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close". The movie narrates the story of a small boy who lost his father in the bombing attack, he then finds a strange key and he starts his expedition to unlock the hidden truths behind his father's life and death. Jonathan Safran Foer, the author of this book was accused of exploiting the tragedy. Stephen Daldry, the director had wished the movie to hit the theatres on the 10th anniversary on the attack this year, but the movie will probably be released on 20th January next year. The movie has a huge star cast including Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock, John Goodman, James Gandolfini, and Thomas Horn.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

The action mystery directed by Guy Ritchie is also among the awaited movies of 2011. Produced by Joel Silver Lionel Wigram, Susan Downey and Dan Lin, the movie is a sequel to 2009 film Sherlock Holmes based on the book written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyale. Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law reprise their roles as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson, respectively, as the duo unites to outsmart and bring down their most sneaked adversary, Jared Harris plays Professor Moriart. The movie is likely to hit the theatres on 16th December this year.
   
The Woman in Black

The Harry Potter fame Daniel Radcliffe has known a few things in regard to star in a book adaptation, so his soon to released movie "The Woman in Black" appears to be in safe hands. It is a horror movie adapted by author Susan Hill's book. The supernatural thriller film is directed by James Watkins and written by Jane Goldman. Apart from Daniel, the movie stars Ciaran Hinds, Janet McTeer, Sophie Stuckey and Liz White. The only questionable thing about the movie is that whether the audience will accept their Harry Potter in any other role. The curiosity will only come to an end next year around 10th February.

The Amazing Spider-Man

The comic book based super hero film is at present under production. Directed by Marc Webb, the movie stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors.Peter Parker can be seen budding his super powers in high school in this movie. The movie is scheduled to be released on 3rd July 2012 in 3D and IMAX 3D.


The Hunger Games

The sci-fi action drama film directed by Gary Ross is based on the novel by Suzanne Collins. The much awaited movie was made a lot of hush-hush around when Jenifer Lawrence, the "Winter Bone" starrer was signed for the movie as the central protagonist Katniss Everdeen. Liam Hemsworth, also joins the cast with Josh Hutcherson. "The Hunger Game" is likely to be released on 2nd March 2012.

The Bourne Legacy

The fourth movie in Bourne franchise will released in 2012. The book is based on 2004 novel by Eric Van Lustbader, who was given the responsibility to continue the series after death of creator Robert Ludlum. Tony Gilroy, who penned the first three parts of the movies, is likely to direct the fourth part. As Matt Damon has dropped out from the movie, so there is very less known about the star cast. The movie is scheduled to be released on 3rd August 2012.


Man of Steel

Based on the Superman comic book, the film will reboot the Superman film series. The superhero film is superhero film under the development of Zack Snyder, Christopher Nolan, and David S. Goyer. It is due to be released on 14th June, 2013. It is reportedly being filmed in Chicago.

Steig Larsson's 2005 novel "The girl with Dragon Tatoo" and its other two sequels have turned most hyped literary sensation in recent times. The thriller movie is based on Swedish novel. The first film was Swedish-language adaptation. The forthcoming movie is penned by Steven Zaillain and directed by David Fincher. Daniel Craig stars as Mikael Blomkvist, and Rooney Mara stars as Lisbeth Salander. The film is scheduled to be released in the United States and Canada on December 21, 2011.

Freida Pinto and Riz Ahmed starrer Trishna is a British Drama directed by Micheal Winterbottom. Its an adaptation of Thomas Hardy's novel "Tess of the d'Urbervilles". The movie was shot in Jaipur and Munmbai in early 2011. It was premiered at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival on September 9.

Legacy of Secrecy

Starring super star,Leonardo DiCaprio, the movie is based on 2008 book of same name by Lamar Waldron and Thom Hartmann. The story is about an FBI informant who asserts to know the truth behind the dreadful murder. Produced by Warner Bros. the movie is scheduled to release in 2013.


Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus

The book is about relationships and it dropped in the book stores like a bomb and now it attempts to turn into a movie. As it's a self help book so it's devoid of characters and flaws. The movie is likely to be released in 2013.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt both board as producers for this acclaimed book-to-movie adaptation of John Valliant's "The Tiger". The book released is this year and the story is about a man eating tiger and the warden, who has to track him down. The movie is being directed by Darren Aronofsky. The movie is scheduled to release in 2012.


Paradise Lost

It was hard to imagine for John Milton back in 1667 that someday his classic poem "Paradise Lost" will be creating dollars for Hollywood. As multiple versions of "Paradise Lost" are at present under effort, some parts are full-fledged adaptations. Not less than three version will hit the theatres in 2012 alone, and versions are likely to be from Legendary Pictures and "I, Robot" director Alex Proyas.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

Just after Seth Grahame-Smith's novel "Pride and Prejudice and Zomies" hit stands last year, there was already a deal in place to bring it to the big screen. Mike Smith, director of comedy "Year of the Dog," will bring the film to life and a script is already in place, leaving just to find a cast and filming them. Craig Gillespie director of "Fright Night" is supposedly on board for a 2013 release.

There is not much known to us about this latest adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's 1877 classic. Joe Wright is working hard to put together an all star cast for the project. Keira Knightley, Jude Law, Aaron Johnson are the star cast for the movie. The movie will be released in 2012.

The Life of Pi

Ang Lee will be directing the adaption of the popular 2001 novel by Yann Martel. The book is about an Indian boy who who stays alive after a ship wreck and spends month floating with only a giant tiger as a companion. A lot of efforts have been made previously but it all failed, but this time it looks like the film is a finally go. The shooting for the movie has begun in January with Tobey Maguire and Gerard Depardeiu now on board. The date for release is scheduled on 14th December 2012.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

The "Wanted" director Timur Bekmambetov is behind the cameras for bringing Seth Grahame-Smith's historical horror on screen. Benjamin Walker, Dominic Cooper, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rufus Sewell are the star cast for the movie. The movie will release on 22nd June 2012.
